Within the scope of Exploration of Potential in Türkiye İn The Context of EU Circular Economy Package”, which is the first component of the “DEEP Project”, a survey and institutional visit program for stakeholders is carried out.

The purpose of the program is to evaluate the current situation of stakeholders from the public, private sector, non-governmental organizations and universities in terms of circular economy strategy and practices, and to receive the opinions and suggestions of relevant stakeholders on Türkiye’s transition to circular economy process and policies.

Prior to the program, which also aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of the stakeholders on the concepts of “DEEP Project” and “circular economy”, questionnaires were sent to 84 different institutions/organizations and units, and institutional visits were initiated as of July 4, 2022.

The institutional visits are carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change, Zero Waste Department, Project Consortium Leader DAI and representatives of the Business Council for Sustainable Development Türkiye, one of the consortium partners.

A total of 30 interviews have been held so far, with different units of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change, Ministry of Industry and Technology, Ministry Of Agriculture And Forestry, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and Ministry of Trade, and TURKSTAT.

It is foreseen that the interview outputs and survey results of the visits, which will continue until the end of August, will contribute to the evaluation of the current situation, as well as form a comprehensive basis for the preparation of the "National Action Plan", the next component of the "DEEP Project".
