MARUF23 was held with the main theme of “Solution Generating Cities” which aimed to enable all stakeholders to search for solutions to make cities more liveable, sustainable, resilient, and inclusive. In this context, Sadiye Bilgiç Karabulut, Head of Circular Economy and Waste Management, Directorate General of Environmental Management, Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change moderated the "Mission Zero Waste: Minding the Circularity Gap Session." where DEEP Project Team Leader Mihail Dimovski contributed as a panellist.
In this session, Ms. Karabulut and Mr. Dimovski made assessments on the importance of cities in the transition to a circular economy, threats and opportunities for circular cities, and the contribution of circularity gap assessment to the process. In the session where Mr. Dimovski addressed local-level actions within the scope of the National Circular Economy Strategy and Action Plan, Jordi Pascual Torner, Cities, and Regions Programme Manager of Circle Economy Foundation, took part in the session on the impacts of circular economy on cities.
