DEEP Project “Training on Pilot Studies to Demonstrate an Eligible Model on Effective Implementation of Sorting at Source and Reusing” was Held in Istanbul and Kocaeli
Within the scope of the “Technical Assistance for Assessment of Turkey’s Potential on Transition to Circular Economy (DEEP Project)”, “Training on Pilot Studies to Demonstrate an Eligible Model on Effective Implementation of Sorting at Source and Reusing” was organized in Istanbul and Kocaeli provinces.
The opening speeches of the training, which took place in Istanbul on August 26 - 28, were delivered by the officials from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Directorate General of Environmental Management, Circular Economy and Waste Management Department; Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations, European Union Investments Department and the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey.
Held on September 2 - 4 in Kocaeli, the opening speeches of the training were delivered by officials from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Directorate General of Environmental Management and Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Directorate General of Environmental Management, Zero Waste Training and Awareness Branch Directorate, Department of Zero Waste Practices.
The first two days of the training in both provinces included the presentations on “Waste Prevention, Reduction and Separate Collection at Source Practices in the EU in Line with Circular Economy”, “National Waste Management Legislation in the Framework of Circular Economy”, “Zero Waste Management System within the National Framework”, “Waste Collection System and Practices in Türkiye”, “Assessment of Alternative Collection Models”, “Current Situation of Civic Amenity Sites in the EU and Good Practices in the Framework of Circular Economy”, “Waste Collection Centers in Turkey, Criteria, Establishment, Operation, Current Situation and Good Practices in the Framework of Circular Economy”, “Civic Amenity Sites in Türkiye, Criteria, Establishment, Operation, Current Situation and Good Practices within the Framework of Circular Economy” and “Assessing the Institutional, Administrative, Technical and Financial Capacities of National and Local Governments and Different Economic Instruments”.
On the third and last day of the trainings, which were attended by 74 people in total, field visits were organised to Zeytinburnu Municipality Civic Amenity Site and Fatih Municipality Civic Amenity Site in Istanbul, and Körfez Municipality Civic Amenity Site and Başiskele Municipality Civic Amenity Site in Kocaeli within the scope of “Civic Amenity Site Good Practice Promotion Event”.
